Developing the next generation of Black Independent Filmmakers in Birmingham

Statistically speaking, the Black British filmmaker doesn’t exist (Creative Skillset, 2016). The truth is this: across the UK there are thousands of British Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) film graduates and self-taught independents running flat-out on a daily treadmill of low-budget music videos and no-budget YouTube promotions and short docs.

Theme of conference: How do we get Broadcasters to best work with Black Filmmakers in the region?

Date: Wed, December 5, 2018

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Venue: Parkside Building, Birmingham School of Media
